The Steven Solution Part II

On the previous page, we saw how difficult it is to become successful in Los Angeles, in Hollywood. When we think about it, that makes sense. It’s a long way from nobody to star. It’s not likely to happen in a short period of time. Now we’re going to turn the whole thing around. We’re going to take another close look and think carefully once again. Then we’ll find a solution for our success.

As I wrote in the first part, this journey was nevertheless necessary. We have completed a “hero’s journey,” a complete circle of a story. Not only are we ready for a new story, but we have also changed ourselves. This is the mystical journey of the hero.

The circle of a story

The mistake began right at the start. When our young actors looked around and thought, nothing ever happens here, it’s boring, hopeless. The only solution would be to leave, to go to the promised land of film. There’s actually a lot going on around you. There are theaters, local productions, courses in creative writing, acting, all kinds of things. There are creative people everywhere, you just have to find them.  It’s easy to say, “There are no opportunities here, I’m going far away.” It’s easier to have the big dream and then fail spectacularly.

Here is the real way to become successful. Your opportunities are HERE, you start HERE. Start small, create your own opportunities. Find other people who share your interests and start projects together.

Small projects, simple projects. But with these projects you gain experience, you learn something. You don’t learn acting in Hollywood. You start small, on a small stage, in a class. What makes you successful is not the magical teacher. What makes you successful is your will, your interest, and your willingness to learn. Others give up after the first problem, but you keep going. After the first course, you look for the next one. After the first play or student film, you look for the next one. And so on.

So far, this is nothing special. But now we’re going to do something special. We’re going to change your attitude! You believe that success only happens far away. In another city, in another country. I’m telling you, success happens here. Right here—and you’re going to make sure that these opportunities exist.

We’re now launching the Steven Solution.

The Steven Solution

The Power of Ten

I will present the optimal solution here. As we all know, reality always looks different. You will have to make compromises and change things slightly. None of that is a problem; the only important thing is that the core idea remains the same.

Here’s how it works: You don’t wait for others to take the first step; you are the driving force. Let’s stick with the topic of film, but the same applies to theater or any other event.

You launch the idea of a film production. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an actor, director, or just interested in film.

Next, you look for fellow enthusiasts. We live in the age of social media. Yes, you can reach people in your region. Simply via the Internet, via social media. You can also use traditional media, or even easier: just talk to all your acquaintances and friends to see if they know anyone who might be interested. Be brave, be bold, be creative, and seek out creative people.

You will probably quickly realize that there are plenty of people who would like to be involved in such a project. They were just waiting for you to get started. Just as you were waiting for others before. Now, the difficult part, but also the most important part. Let’s talk about money.

Money.

Because that determines, at least in part, whether there will be a project at all.
