Superstars
FIRST NIGHT

You won the audition. You are the new superstar.
You will earn millions. You will go on tour.
Your album will be a number one hit and sell millions of copies.
But first, you have to survive the first night.
Millions of young people are glued to their TVs—today is the big day! It’s the finale of the casting show “Superstars.” Four members are being sought for the new Superstars boy band “Heart & Heat.” The story begins with the selection of the fourth and final “Superstar.” From there, we follow the new boy band for a day. The group’s first single is released exactly 24 hours after the selection – and that’s where we leave the band again.
Instead of the dream life they hoped for as “Superstars,” the boys get to know life behind the scenes. This world plays by its own rules. It’s about money, power, and big business.
How do the four boys react when the whole world opens up to them overnight? Who takes off? Who goes crazy? Who can remain normal in this environment?
And who is the traitor in their group?

Music. Just one little word, yet it evokes so many associations. Love, hope, an unforgettable party night at the weekend. Concerts to sing and dance along to. Music is our shared time, our past, our future…
What a load of nonsense. Rubbish. A text drafted by an advertising agency on behalf of a record company.
Music? I’ll tell you what music really is. Are you ready? Ready to leave your childhood behind, ready for the big stage of life?
First truth: someone built this stage. With money. Lots of money.
The second truth: you’re only on this stage because it makes someone money. Sure, you’ll earn some money too. You get the fame, the groupies, and the life of a “star.” But the stage isn’t yours, your music isn’t yours. Another shocker: not even the clothes you wear are yours. They were just an advertising deal. You, too, are just an advertising deal. Entertain the audience, that’s your job. Sing, dance, play the damn guitar, if you can play an instrument at all.
Because that’s the only and the real deal: they pay, you sing.
We take care of all the other crap. Management, tour planning, merchandising. And yes, we charge you for the effort. I don’t want you to be disappointed. Is it all just a business relationship, all just numbers? I can reassure you. We love you, you and your career. Because your career pays for our living. But enough of that now.
Get back on stage. They’re waiting for you, they’re clapping, chanting your name. Isn’t that fantastic? Get on stage, it’s time. Someone always has to be on stage. The stage cost us a lot of money. Go on, show us you’re grateful. Don’t forget, we gave you this chance. Outside, out there in the cities and streets, thousands are waiting for their chance.
They dream. Of fame, of money. Of the big stage.
Sing.
Dance.
You’re the star!
You’re the superstar!
